Black walnut is one of the most premium wood species around. When I ask someone their favorite wood, this is the most common answer, with it’s consistent, deep dark brown color, it’s easy to see why. When people think of premium hardwood, this is what they imagine.
Black Walnut isn’t common in my area but is easy to get, because it’s both farmed commercially for it’s lumber and a common tree in other parts of the country, like the state of Oregon, where this three was harvested by a local sawmill owner and lumber dealer, before it was shipped to my friends at A Cut Above Bowl Co, who I bought it from and turned.
