Aromatic cedar is one of my favorite woods to turn. It’s a softwood but on the harder end of softwood making it lovely to turn and the red heartwood contrasts perfectly with the lighter sapwood making the finished product always a beautiful piece. On top of that it’s one of the best smelling woods around and leaves the shop smelling incredible for days after the bowl is finished
I shaped this bowl loosely inspired by the Dublin Viking bowl, a thousand year old relic from the Viking age
